About Terra Dafoe’s practice

My name is Terra Dafoe and I am a registered clinical and counselling psychologist. My approach is grounded in the principles and practices of mindfulness and compassion-focused therapy. In session, we use these guiding values and practices to support increased self-awareness and acceptance, as well as find new ways to relate to your inner experiences with curiosity, kindness, and compassion.

I provide trauma-informed care. This means I am aware of the pervasive nature of trauma and the impact of early experiences on current distress and difficulties.  I work to ensure that our sessions acknowledge and explore your experiences in a way that is consensual, safe, and collaborative. I embrace diversity and work with individuals with varying cultural, spiritual, sexual, and gender identities.

Extensive training in cognitive & mindfulness-based therapies

I have extensive training and experience in the application and integration of cognitive and mindfulness-based therapies to a wide range of difficulties (i.e., parenting, stress, anxiety, depression) and a personal mindfulness practice of over ten years. I recently completed the Maternal Mental Health Certification training through Postpartum Support International, and regularly participate in ongoing supervision and consultation focused on mindfulness, trauma, and perinatal mental health.  I am a mother myself of two young, beautiful, and energetic girls. All this to say, I practice what I “teach” and strive to be authentic in my support of others.

Above all, I believe the most important contributor to successful therapy outcomes is the therapist-client fit. Whether you have been in therapy for several years and are looking for a new therapist, or is this your first time, I know beginning the search can be a daunting task.

Tailored to your unique goals.

If we were to work together, I think you would find that I am a warm, compassionate, and thoughtful therapist. I am integrative in my approach and will work to tailor your sessions to your unique goals. My intention is to create a safe space for sharing and exploration while also helping you enact meaningful change in your daily life. I welcome and seek active feedback and work to make our sessions work for you. If you are interested in learning more about my approach and whether I might be the right for you, please contact me for a free phone consultation. I look forward to hearing from you.

Introducing Tekesha Harvey

My name is Tekesha Harvey, and I am a registered social work therapist. I understand that life can feel overwhelming at times. It may feel like you are just going through the motions, questioning whether you will ever be able to feel peace and joy, or wondering whether your relationships will ever become healthy and fulfilling. I am here to help. My goal is to assist you in tapping into your inner awareness and strengths, to facilitate positive goal-directed changes.

I specialize in working with individuals who are experiencing difficulty with relationships, healthy-communication, self-esteem, depression, anxiety, grief/loss, self-acceptance, boundaries, stress, and life transitions.

My approach is warm and eclectic

I work from a trauma-informed strengths-based framework. I am trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Emotion Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and mindfulness-based practices.

Therapy is a collaborative process, and I will work with you to tailor therapy to meet your needs. I believe that the strength of the therapeutic relationship is of utmost importance, and that it is built on a foundation of feeling safe, heard, and understood.

Although life can feel difficult at times, it doesn't have to feel that way. You are not alone. I am committed to walking with you along your journey to wellness and feeling good - both within your relationships, and within yourself.

I welcome clients of all gender identities and sexual orientations.
